Dr. Howard Goodkin grew up in Wayne, NJ. He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. with a BA. in history in 1981. He then studied at UMDNJ (University of Medicine & Dentistry of NJ) where he received his DMD degree in 1985.
After finishing dental school, Dr. Goodkin completed a two-year mini-residency program at Albert Einstein School of Dentistry in Periodontology. Dr. Goodkin, since 1994, has been an active member of the St. Claire’s Dental Study Club. Dr. Goodkin attends at least 8 seminars/year in all phases of dentistry. He opened his private dental practice in Aug. 1988 in Long Valley, NJ. Dr. Goodkin performs all aspects of dentistry including cosmetic (porcelain veneers, lumineers, and all porcelain crowns), implant, restorative, endodontic, and oral surgery.
Dr. Goodkin is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA), and the Tri-County Dental Society.
Dr. Goodkin married his childhood sweetheart, Jill, and together they have three wonderful children, Joshua, Rachel & Marissa. When Dr. Goodkin is not performing dentistry, he enjoys fishing, hiking, reading, being with friends and family and most of all, spending quality time with his wife and children.
Dr. Jarred Pilek is a native to Long Valley, NJ. After completing high school at West Morris Central, he went off to Gettysburg College where he continued with his love of art and the sciences. Just before going back to Gettysburg for his senior year, Dr. Pilek was able to observe in Dr. Goodkin’s office where he not only saw the connection between art and dentistry, but he also crossed paths with his best friend, Kara, who he married in November 2008. In 2003 Dr. Pilek graduated a semester early with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Studio Art. His Doctor of Dental Surgery degree was then achieved at New York University College of Dentistry in the spring of 2007.
After NYUCD, Dr. Pilek did a residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. During this residency he received expert training and was fortunate enough to be the first resident to place a dental implant on his own. He is very thankful for being honored with “The Fourth Annual Dr. Mark McIntyre Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Dentistry” and the “Betty Weinstein Memorial Award for Excellence in Research.” The research that he conducted was a clinical trial that examined the effects of music distraction in the treatment of dental anxiety.
In his free time when he is not consumed by everything hockey and the NJ Devils, Dr. Pilek enjoys spending time sculpting, doing projects, and watching movies. He is very thankful for all that he has and has accomplished and knows that he could not be where he is without the support of his family and friends.
Dr. Katelyn Domingues was raised in Long Valley until the age of fifteen, when she and her family moved to Pennsylvania. The eldest of six children, she returned to New Jersey, after her small family of three became a large blended family of eight. She attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology and Biochemistry. While at Bucknell, Dr. Domingues was active in undergraduate research in a synthetic organic chemistry lab focusing in novel polymer architectures. Through her efforts, she obtained a first-author publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal for developing an environmentally friendly method of polymer coupling. She continued her education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine. While at RSDM, Dr. Domingues was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society, and was aw
arded the prestigious Stanley S. Bergen, Jr., MD Medal of Excellence upon her graduation.
Following her graduation from dental school, Dr. Domingues completed a General Practice Residency at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey. During this hospital-based residency program, she enjoyed both practicing clinical general dentistry and participating in the management of dental trauma and medically complex patient cases. She gained advanced training in all areas of general dentistry, including fixed and removable prosthodontics, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, implant dentistry, management of medically compromised and special needs patients, digital dentistry, and esthetic procedures. She looks forward to further advancing her training through continuing education throughout her career to provide her patients with the best possible care.
Dr. Domingues is also an active member in several professional organizations, including the New Jersey Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Outside of the office, Dr. Domingues enjoys time spent with her friends, family, and her new puppy, Scout. She and her husband, Dr. Miles Santo, enjoy challenging, scenic hikes, nature, spin classes, beach trips, and travel (next on the bucket list: see the Northern Lights!). An inherent creative, Dr. Domingues has tried her hand at crochet, calligraphy, watercolor painting, furniture upcycling, and jewelry making, and enjoys translating her artistic hand to her dentistry. Dr. Domingues looks forward to meeting and caring for you and your family!
Dr. Giralt comes from New York and has been working for Dr. Goodkin since 1992. He obtained his dental education in Upstate Western New York attending S.U.N.Y. School of Dental Medicine at Buffalo. His summers were busy with pediatric externships at Buffalo's Children's Hospital and a medical externship at Erie County Medical Center. The summer experience obtained at Erie County Medical Center then led to a one year General Practice Residency at the same hospital. After getting his share of snow storms and fill of Buffalo chicken wings, he settled back home and worked in a practice in Downtown Manhattan until moving across the Hudson to New Jersey.
When Dr. Giralt isn't working, family life keeps him busy. On a nice day, it's off on a hike or biking with his wife Karen and children, Sophia, Olivia, and Benjamin. Spending quality time with the family is very important, especially seeing how fast the children grow up.
Working at Dr. Goodkin's is like a second home. "I've had the opportunity to be Dr. Goodkin's first associate, and without a doubt, the staff and patients are like family! I am grateful to be part of such a quality oriented practice."
